The Death Pool – Coaches Blocking Scouts From Contacting Players

Good Monday morning kids!  We’re almost half way through October already, can you believe it?  And since we’re almost half way through October, there is no better time than to talk about all the Coaches and Teams who are blocking scouts from contacting players!

That’s right kids, you are paying teams to develop you so you can be seen, and they are blocking scouts from contacting you!!!!

If you’re on a AAA team, or Tier III team, why not take a look into the “Scout Room” at your next showcase event.  Not to see who is in there, but to see if your team is actually supplying information to the scouts that are coming.  Not some crappy flyer either with player stats because any monkey can find those on line, but an actual contact sheet.

See, the majority of teams are not putting that information out there.  That’s right folks, scouts aren’t able to contact your kid because the team he is currently on does not want to put his contact information out there.

Sounds like some bullshit huh kids?!

Yeah well, see these coaches say they want to move your kid on, but they only want to move your kid on when they say its alright, and to who they say is going to get you.  They are deliberately blocking scouts who you may or may not want to deal with, who may or may not present a great opportunity.

But you never hear about it!  How’s that for your big investment in your team?

See, your coach may or may not be liked by some scouts, and he may or may not like some scouts.  In this case, the coach wont call the scout back even if the scout reaches out to him.  Professional courtesy anyone?

I know, you’re saying your coach would never do it.  Well, with 14 scouts reporting, and not TJHN scouts, but other scouts from other organizations, we can tell you that at almost all of the early season major events, little or no player contact information was made available.

Yep, you may have seen scouts in the stands, but they don’t have any way to get a hold of you!  Now that’s pretty messed up.

See, there’s a lot of the ego factor at work here too.  Coaches and organizations want to take the credit for moving a player on to a higher level.  They want to control it.  They have forgotten that without you folks paying their bills they don’t exist.

But hey, help is on the way.  Coming soon will be a new service that will put players information in the hands of all scouts, and there is nothing to stop it except the player choosing not to participate.

So the next time you hear your team running its mouth about exposure, ask them if player information other than stats is being distributed to scouts.  Ask to see it.  Check in to the scout room to verify.  If you’re not willing to verify they are doing the job you pay them to do, then you have no one to blame but yourself when no scouts contact you.

Right about now you should be asking yourselves; How many opportunities have I missed out on?
