Gold Miners announce pair of NCAA commitments

KIRKLAND LAKE – The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League are pleased to announce that a pair of players on the roster have committed to play NCAA hockey next season while also attending school on scholarship.

Gold Miners defenceman Dylan Rosen, along with goaltender Josh Erickson have both committed to attend the State University of New York at Canton in time for the 2015-16 campaign.

The 20-year-old Rosen has helped anchor Kirkland Lake’s defensive corps the past two years in winning the NOJHL championship last season.

The towering six-foot-five-inch, 215-pound blueliner, who hails from Clarkston, Mich., also has set career highs in both assists and points in 2014-15 with 20 and 26 respectively to date.

His six goals so far match the half dozen he scored last season.

As for Erickson, he has been stellar since joining the Gold Miners back in early October.

The 20-year-old Woodbury, Minn., product currently leads all netminders in the NOJHL in wins with 22 as well as leading the way in goals-against average at 2.17 and save percentage at. 924.

Erickson’s two shutouts are also just off the league-lead.

Rosen and Erickson become the second and third members off the Kirkland Lake roster to commit to NCAA programs this season joining forward Zach Pease, who earlier accepted an offer from Fredonia State of New York to play D-III hockey in the SUNYAC.
