The Death Pool – Special Report – Two GOJHL Teams Look To Leave For OJHL

The GOJHL is a good league, its rated as the top Junior B league in Canada.  There is no question it produces a lot of good players, and in many opinions it is just as good as many junior A clubs throughout the country.  But hey who cares about anyone’s opinion right?

The GOJHL did apply to be labeled as Junior A, that application was shot down based on a very questionable back room deal giving the OJHL the only Junior A status allowable in Southern Ontario.  How this happened still has some people asking questions.

Now the Brantford 99er’s and Niagara Falls Canucks, are no longer willing to wait for things to change politically.  They are making their applications to join the OJHL.

The reasoning?  They want to see local players stay at home to play Junior A hockey.

Whats funny is that the OJHL is actually leading the charge to grab a few of these teams.  Yep, the league that initiated its own contraction spending tons of money to buy people out, is now trying to expand!  Yep, figure that one out kids and I’ll send ya some high tech codes I need cracked too!

Ummmmmmm yeah, so what’s the GOJHL doing?  Nothing.  They are publicly saying its a compliment to have the OJHL invite teams to apply to the league.

Yeah, if your scratching your head at that shit so am I.  One day the whole GOJHL wants a Junior A label, and the next the league is willing to accept a subservient position and take it as a compliment that two teams are looking to leave?  Insert big ass shoulder shrug here….

Oh yeah, don’t let me forget, there is no guarantee from the OJHL that these two applications will be accepted either.  They might not accept either of them.  Hmmmmm I wonder if that will be taken well or be seen as a slap in the face?

And what if both applications are turned down?  How does the rest of the GOJHL react to their teams that made an attempt to defect?

The stupidity in this process, and in the over all picture of how all of these moves has played out is just another example of just how ridiculous some of the politics can be.   April 15th is when the decision will be made.

On a side note, both Brantford and Niagara Falls have initiated huge merchandise sales lately.  Never mind the sharpie used to black out any G on the league logo.
