TJHN – Hockey Talent Management Tournament Teams Do Well In Summer Showcases

After a two-year hiatus, Hockey Talent Management and TJHN worked with Head Coach John Ambrefe to assemble two tournament teams to play in the EJHL Pre Draft Showcase and last weekends Chowder Cup in Boston.

While the teams were expected to be able to compete in both of these prestigious events, Coach Ambrefe was unsure how the players would come together without having practice time as a team.  As it turns out there was no need for concern.

“I felt we had a good group of players going into both events.  But without practice time you never know how players will work together or how quickly they will develop chemistry on the ice.”  Said Ambrefe “Fortunately for all of us, talent rose to the occasion, and the boys came together rather quickly.”

In the May EJHL Pre draft the team went 2-0-1 only missing the quarter-final round by a tie breaking goal differential.

Last weekend at the Chowder Cup, the team went 3-1-0.  The only loss coming to the eventual Chowder Cup Champions, a team Coached by Mark Messier.  A notable win came against the New Jersey Hitmen assembled by Coach Toby Harris.

“It was a great experience.  The kids got some good exposure from various scouts, and some good experience against quality players.”  Said Ambrefe  “Next summer we hope to continue to build on that success.”

Coach John Ambrefe will be leading the Metropolitan Junior Leagues Philadelphia Revolution during the 2013-2014 season.  A few of the tournament team players will be joining him as they look to assemble a squad that can compete for a league title and National Tournament birth.

“We are still looking for a few more players to round out our roster for this year.  For us as an organization is it about development first and if you do a good job, the wins will come.  We want these players here for one year and then we want them to move on to higher levels.”  Said Ambrefe  “Tier III junior hockey is a stepping stone.  If you work hard and follow a plan, you can reach the next levels.”

Ambrefe not only talks the talk, but walks the walk when it comes to player development and promotion.  Having worked with several NCAA and NHL players in the past, Ambrefe is someone who is committed to the players.
