Bennett to Des Moines May 17, 2012 7:15 AM

Ryan Bennett, an assistant coach the past two seasons with the Corpus Christi IceRays, has accepted a similar position with the United States Hockey League’s Des Moines Buccaneers.

Bennett, who also served as the IceRays’ director of scouting, will still work with the North American Hockey League team in a scouting capacity, according to general manager Pat Dunn.

Bennett joined the IceRays’ front office after playing two seasons for the team from 2008-10 during its final two years as a Central Hockey League franchise.

Bennett, 30, played junior hockey in Des Moines for parts of two seasons from 2000-02. His knowledge of NAHL players is expected to assist Des Moines immediately as they prepare for the USHL draft next week.
