Brian Curran to Coach AJHL Drumheller Dragons

Brian Curran, former NHL defenseman coached the Brooks Bandits in the AJHL, the Jacksonville Lizard Kings in the ECHL and the Monroe Moccasins of the WPHL in 1999.

Curran will remain in the Alberta Junior Hockey League after leading the Lloydminster Bobcats to one of the team’s best seasons, he has signed on to be the new head coach and general manager of the Drumheller Dragons. The deal is for five years.

Curran took over the Bobcats from Tom Keca and was with the club for over two years. He was named the AJHL Coach of the Year this past season, but didn’t resign with the Bobcats after his contract expired at the end of the season.

Curran lead the team to a 38–14–0–8 record and a third–place finish in the AJHL North Division this past season.

The five year agreement brings stability to the Dragons as well as experience. The length of the deal assures recruits will be able to begin and end their careers with the Coach that recruits them. A wise move on the part of Drangons ownership, showing their commitment to development, stability and through those and increased level of competition.
