Cougars Appoint New Assistant Coaches July 23, 2012 7:00 AM

Curtis Hodgins is already known in Canadian Junior Hockey circles as an elite hockey coach with great leadership behind the bench. Now, the Cobourg Cougars of the Ontario Junior Hockey League have added another key component to their team, which will help them continue in their quest to become one of the premier junior "A" hockey teams in the country.

The Cougars are very proud to announce that Ken Scott has been hired as its new Assistant Coach. Also joining Curtis on the bench is Bryan Hanke, both will work closely with all members of the Cougars’ management team, effective immediately.

Ken Scott who once was an Assistant Coach for Curtis Hodgins with the Bowmanville Eagles brings Jr. A coaching experience and a hockey skills development element to the staff. He was instrumental in the Whitby Minor hockey Association success where he was a coaching mentor for 10 years.

Bryan Hanke who worked previously with Coach Hodgins was also hired, Hanke worked with Hodgins in both Whitby and Bowmanville. Bryan also brings Jr. A experience and a good tactical approach to complement our bench staff. “Having both of these individuals as part of our on ice staff is a huge benefit to the players and organization, they both bring experience and strong commitment to player development” said Hodgins.

Cougars’ Director Of Hockey Operations Perry Bowles was thrilled that Ken and Bryan were available, “both coaches bring a skill development element to the program. With Ken and Bryan being brought into Cobourg, they will help take the Cougars players to even higher levels of achievement. Cobourg’s management group has worked very hard to regenerate the Cobourg Cougars’ franchise into one of the premier junior "A" organizations in Canada and we all look forward to working with both Ken and Bryan, in our continuing quest to become better", Bowles said.

“Both Ken and Bryan will assist the club in various ways, with an emphasis on helping us to recruit and develop players interested in progressing to higher levels within hockey and forging relationships with other levels within junior hockey."

For more than 45 years, the Cobourg Cougars have been a strong, community-based and well-supported junior hockey organization. For more information on the Cougars generally, please visit www.cobourgcougars.com and follow the Cougars on www.Twitter.com/cobourgcougars.
