Fargo Force – Scheels Arena Gets A Saving Donation September 27, 2012 9:41 AM

The Fargo Force will open their fifth USHL season tonight, but the real news for this franchise occurred Wednesday.

It was announced that an anonymous benefactor will donate enough money to put a major dent into the $23 million debt that is hanging over Scheels Arena. Scheels is the home of the Fargo Force, as well as home to other events throughout the year.

Before Wednesday though, you couldn’t blame the Force staff for thinking they may be kicked out of their home if the banks took over a foreclosed building. The arena has struggled to stay afloat and the threat of forclosure was a very real one.

Unlike Scheels Arena, the Force have been a huge success. They have reached the United States Hockey League playoffs every season during their four year existence, reaching the Clark Cup finals twice. The Force also ranked second in attendance last year, averaging 3,700 fans per night last season. Success on the scoreboard, has reflected in success at the gate.

Scheels Arena was built by Force owner Ace Brandt. So is Brandt, the developer with lots of money, the mystery doner? Some sources are indicating that he was either the doner, or was involved in some way with the donation. Owners such as Brandt do not feel the need to be known or recorgnized for their good deeds publicly, and would not comment.

Tonight when the Force open the season against Sioux City, all 36 suites and the two lounges will be full. Fans will continue to enjoy family friendly promotions, and new flat-screen TVs at every concession stand. The Force Staff have continued to work on their game night presentation, while Coaches and Players prepare to put on the show.

Teamwork. The Force have that in "Aces", from ownership on down through the players on the ice. That is what makes the Fargo Force one of the most successful USHL franchises.
