Gamblers brings in Denver’s Carle As Assistant May 18, 2012 7:16 AM

The Green Bay Gamblers have hired University of Denver student assistant David Carle to replace assistant coach Jon Rogger.

Rogger, a fourth-year assistant, was introduced as the coach and general manager of the USHL’s Des Moines Buccaneers earlier this month.

Carle, 21, has served as a student assistant for the last four years under Denver coach George Gwozdecky.

Carle will graduate from Denver in June, but is expected to be in Green Bay full-time starting June 1. The Gamblers say he’ll also be in town for next week’s USHL Entry Draft and will recruit on behalf of the Gamblers at the USHL Combine this weekend in Orland Park, Ill.

Carle is the brother of Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Matt Carle who spent the 2002-03 season in the USHL with the Omaha Lancers and went on to become the USHL Defenseman of the Year. David Carle also has coaching experience on the international level serving in the role of video coordinator for U.S. Under-17 Team when they captured the gold medal at the 2011 Five Nations Tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
