GOJHL Junior B To NCAA D-1 – You Can Get To NCAA From Any League – Brady Campbell

Anyone who says you cant get to D-1 from Junior B in Canada or Tier III in the United States, clearly doesnt know what they are talking about.  Not that all leagues and teams are created equal, but if your good enough and put in the work it really doesnt matter if you play in Elmira New York or Elmira Ontario.

Brady Campbell just happens to play in Elmira Ontario in the GOJHL for the Elmira Sugar Kings.  The Sugar Kings are a team struggling this year, just barely above the .500 mark, but that hasnt kept the scouts away.

Off the ice for the last three weeks with a broken cheekbone from a fluke injury in practice, it didnt stop the University of Maine from offering a four year scholarship to the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League’s best goal scorer. Campbell scored 38 in 35 games before being hurt three weeks ago.

Despite missing the last seven games, he still ranks ninth in the GOJHL with 67 points.  His previous career-high was 54 points in 2010-11.

The Black Bears are getting a player who will make his teammates better. Campbell helped Elmira win the Sutherland Cup in 2011, and tends to elevate those that play around him.

Campbell is expected to get an opportunity to play right away next season as Maine has been struggling to produce goals.

The lesson here is simple, it doesnt matter what the initials are of the league you play in, if you work hard, and put in your time, the opportunity will be there.
