Indiana Ice Make Coaching Change

The Indiana Ice announced today that Charlie Skjodt has been named interim head coach as the team has relieved Kyle Wallack of his duties as general manager and head coach of the team.

“There were a number of factors that led me to make this decision at this time of the year, but team unity, improvement in team play during the season, and the development of the players who sign up for the Indiana Ice will never be compromised, “ said Ice CEO Paul Skjodt. “I would like to thank Coach Wallack for his time here in Indy and wish him much success in his future endeavors.”

Charlie Skjodt has a 76-34-10 all-time record behind the bench for the Ice, including guiding the team to a 37-19-4 record last season and a berth in the playoffs. He first coached the Ice during the 2007 USHL Clark Cup Playoffs before taking over for the 2007-08 season and leading the team to a 39-15-6 record and East Division title. The 39 victories and 22 home wins that season were both Ice records.

Wallack was in his first USHL season and helped the team earn a 34-15-9 record (77 points), currently second in the Eastern Conference, and a berth in the Clark Cup Playoffs.

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 10th season as the nation’s only Tier I junior hockey league in 2011-12. With 28 picks during the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, 13 NHL draftees on its rosters this season, and over 250 players already committed to NCAA Division I schools this season, the USHL is emerging as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
