As first reported by TJHN, the Eastern Hockey League plan moving forward has been to acquire existing franchises within the USA Hockey system.
Multiple sources are confirming that the Eastern Hockey Leagues planned expansion by acquisition for the 2017-2018 season includes the addition of the entire NA3AHL.
The NA3AHL essentially consists of the core remaining teams from the old Metropolitan Junior Hockey League.
Once believed to be destined for complete NA3HL membership, both the NA3HL and EHL have agreed to this acquisition under a rule established by USA Hockey last year making such an acquisition possible as long as both leagues were in agreement.
Multiple sources are also reporting that the EHL has another re-activation/expansion request pending in front of the Junior Council scheduled to be voted on today.
TJHN will update this story as more information becomes available.
