NAHL facing serious challenges

As of late yesterday evening, the NAHL had yet to receive letters of commitment for the 2012-2013 season from the following teams:

  1. – Alaska Avalanche
  2. – Coulee Region Chill
  3. – Dawson Creek Rage
  4. – Fresno Monsters
  5. – Michigan Warriors
  6. – Springfield Blues
  7. – St Louis Bandits
  8. – Traverse City North Stars
  9. – Wenatchee Wild
  10. – New Mexico Mustangs

While delays in receiving commitments are not uncommon, and most of these teams are going to submit their commitment, it does shed light on some teams that are in question moving forward.

TJHN has learned that the Traverse City North Stars have yet to find a new ownership group. Continued attempts to reach out to local investors have failed. Without a safety net, Traverse City has most likely seen its last NAHL season.

The New Mexico Mustangs, are simply not likely to return. Although TJHN has not been able to confirm this information, the Mustangs are rumored to be on the move.

The Michigan Warriors, struggling to gain any fans in Flint Michigan are most likely at an end or on the move. It would seem the only safety net available to them is for the arena owner to potentially take over the team.

Wenatchee Wild is rumored to have lost its appeal to join the BCHL. However, this is a strong ownership group with other options on the table.

Fresno Monsters, could be done as well. This was another mistake from the begining. Had this ownership group stayed with their Tier III team and not tried to go NAHL and divide its fans in the process we would still be talking about how great the organizations is.

As for the rest of the teams, TJHN expects most to file their commitments within the next few days. There is no real rush to get it done.

The questions being asked by most is, "What about the Soo Eagles?". TJHN expects to have an answer shortly.
