Scotty Bowman Showcase update

The Rochester senior stars beat their Buffalo counterparts for just the second time in the Cup’s eight-year history.

Nick Pagliacci of Kenmore East scored Buffalo’s first goal in the first period. Trevor Simonick of Williamsville South and Don Battista of Kenmore East scored for Buffalo in the second period.

Marc Mallare (St. Joe’s), David Nowak (St. Francis) and Matt Peccia (West Seneca West) split time in goal for the Buffalo team.

Buffalo Juniors took home the Tim Horton Memorial Cup after dominating the Rochester Juniors, 7-2, in the first game.

Rick Eberhart of Lockport, who netted two goals. On his first goal, Tyler Chodkowski of West Seneca West passed it to him out front before connecting and his second goal goal came on a two-on-one break with Brian Dudek.

Dudek of St. Mary’s, Dimitrios Gogos of St. Joe’s, Tyler McTigue of St. Francis, Bob Piotrowicz of Frontier and Cory Swift of West Seneca East added single goals.

Buffalo goalie Connor Naughton of Canisius, one of three keepers. Naughton was being watched very closely by a number of scouts in the stands.

The third game featured the talent between Buffalo and Rochester’s prep schools and junior hockey players. This game did not disappoint.

The Buffalo Junior/Prep team captured the beat the Rick Martin Memorial Cup after beating Rochester Junior/Prep, 5-2. Buffalo jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first period and didnt look back. It was an impressive gathering of hockey talent between the two cities.

Once again the Scotty Bowman Cup did not disappoint. More scouts in attendance, and more attention for WNY hockey.
