SIJHL announces additional postponed Sioux Lookout games September 28, 2012 7:55 AM

For months, rumors have been swirling about the Superior International Junior Hockey League and its member teams struggling to recruit players to fill their rosters.

On wednesday the game scheduled against Thunder Bay was cancelled and yesterday The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced that two additional Sioux Lookout Flyers’ games, scheduled for this weekend, have been temporarily postponed. Those games were to have featured the Flyers hosting the Minnesota Iron Rangers Friday and Saturday at Sioux Lookout Memorial Arena.

The Flyers are saying they are dealing with a number of roster issues due to injuries and registrations of new players and are thus not able to ice a full line-up for those games. Other sources are saying that the Flyers simply didnt do the work recruiting over the summer that needed to be done. Unfortunately sources are also saying that this is not the only SIJHL team in this position.

Sioux Lookout is expected to host the Minnesota Wilderness on Friday, Oct. 12. The question to be asked is will the game be played? With two more weeks, one would hope the "player issues" could be resolved.

Make-up dates for these two games, as well as for the Sioux Lookout contest vs. Thunder Bay Wednesday that was also cancelled will be announced at a later date once they are finalized.
