The Death Pool – Special Report – Ontario Federation Of Labor Supports Major Junior Players Right To Be Paid

Ummmmmm yeah, so about that paycheck.  See, we gave you some pizza, and a new stick this week, so lets just call it a wash.  Sound good?

Yeah well it looks like the Major Junior players who are suing the CHL are getting some more support from the OFL as the case heads to court starting today.

“There should be no exemptions from the Employment Standards Act and minimum wage laws,” said OFL President Chris Buckley. “How is it that someone can work for 50 hours a week and not get paid?”

Wow, crazy to think that someone should get paid for working huh?  I mean who the hell needs to be compensated for their time and effort when they get all that cool shit for free?  How many hoodies and track suits can a guy actually have?

In 2002, the Canada Revenue Agency determined that the players in the Canadian Hockey League are employees under the Canada Labor Code, entitling them to be covered by the provincial minimum wage.  Pretty simple concept to follow a law that’s been on the books for 15 years isn’t it?

If you hear a whining in the background right about now, its all those ultra rich Major Junior team owners crying because they are about to get screwed for a change.  Yep, someone else is going to be getting paid when all this is over, and its long over due.

Shit, just wait till this happens in the states.  Yeah, because the Federal Government has already said that Major Junior players are employees in the United States.  That’s right, they already made the determination.

I just love this kind of controversy.  You know, when the little guy finally stands up to the big guy and just kicks his ass.
