Three Avalanche Players Off To School June 5, 2012 8:36 AM

The Johnstown Tomahawks may be the new team on the NAHL block but the Alaska Avalanche are still making history.

Forwards Wehebe Darge and Kevin Novakovich and defenseman Patrick Kinkopf have committed to Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn., and will play for the Division III Pipers.

Hamline recently named former Alaska Fairbanks head coach Doc DelCastillo as its Head Coach. Hamline is one of four Minnesota colleges the Avalanche players visited during a road trip early in the 2011-12 season. Many NAHL programs and Tier III programs plan these campus tours as a way of exposing players to schools and schools to players. Its evident that this type of visit can be influential.
