Trouba To Stay At Michigan July 4, 2012 6:44 AM

Contrary to reports suggesting otherwise, Jacob Trouba plans to play for the University of Michigan Wolverines next season.

On Tuesday, the Michigan hockey program released a statement, via the team’s official Twitter account, reaffirming Trouba’s commitment to Red Berenson and Michigan.

"There is absolutely no truth or merit to the recent media reports that the Kitchener Rangers have offered Jacob any remuneration," the program wrote on behalf of the Trouba family. "We have the utmost respect for the Kitchener Rangers and those that choose the (Canadian Hockey League) as an option.

"But Jacob will be attending the University of Michigan next fall as a student athlete."

TJHN has learned that reports of cash offerings from the OHL’s Kitchner Rangers to the Trouba family were in fact made. The size of that finacial compensation package and the fact that it was offered is now under investigation by the OHL.
