Abitibi doubles up Blind River 4-2

IROQUOIS FALLS – The Abitibi Eskimos needed a pair of third period tallies to pull out a hard-fought 4-2 victory over the Blind River Beavers in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League matinee Sunday afternoon at Jus Jordan Arena.

Brady Clouthier’s 33rd goal of the season 5:37 into the contest opened the scoring for the Eskimos as he extended a point streak to five in the process. He also has registered at least one point in 18 of his past 20 outings.

Battling back, Blind River pulled even three and half minutes later courtesy of a Sine Chadi effort.

Abitbi went back in front at the 16:43 mark of the middle stanza thanks to Brenden Locke only to see the Beavers answer back on the next shift as Dante Juris notched the equalizer for the visitors in quick order.

Brennan Roy put the Eskimos in front in the early stages of the third as he stuffed the eventual game-winner past Blind River starter Zachary Mills from in close.

Dalton Bruce then added a man advantage effort at 13:33 to round out the scoring.

Shots on goal favoured the Eskimos 43-37 with Logan Ferrington picking up the win and Mills the loss.
