Chilliwack Chiefs graduated forward Ryan Donohoe has committed to play for the Simon Fraser University Clan of the BCIHL for the coming season.
Donohoe notched 23 points and 17 penalty minutes in 32 BCHL games with the Chiefs. Prior to that, Donohoe played four seasons in the OJHL with Peterborough and Wellington, and put up a total of 107 points in 135 games.
“Strength up the middle is a necessary tool for any successful team at any level,” says SFU Head Coach Mark Coletta. “Adding a player like Ryan definitely makes us better. Coach Smyl in Chilliwack had nothing but positive things to say about Ryan, and he will be an impact guy for us.”
The forward describes himself as a “hardworking, two-way center who hates to lose,” and his strongest assets are his “speed and ability to create plays.”
“I am excited because of the great education and top hockey program SFU has to offer,” said the 21-year-old. “I’m looking forward to being successful in both hockey and my studies.”
