Wednesday June 5th, 2013 will see the start of USA Hockey’s Annual Congress. While the executive committee is expected to arrive on the 4th, the real work won’t begin until the 5th when representatives from accross the country gather together to make decisions that will effect the majority of players in the United States.
The Junior Council is once again expected to have a host of issues to cover. Expansion, contraction, reactivation, and new league formation will take up a lot of their time. Also on the slate is a joint session with the Junior and Youth Councils. It is expected that the issue of protecting Midget hockey will once again be a hot topic of conversation.
In 2012, the number of under 16 yr old players given special consideration to play junior over midget was cut in half from the number allowed in 2011. It is expected that those special considerations will once again be cut in half for the 2013 season.
The schedule for the Junior Council is as follows;
June 5th
3:00 PM – 5:30 PM Junior Council (General Session)
June 6th
12:00 PM – 5:30 PM Junior Council (In Depth Discussion)
