USPHL Premier Players Of The Week: West and South Regions

Week of Oct. 16, 2024

Games of Oct. 8-14, 2024

Pacific Division

Forward: Simon Eriksson, Fresno Monsters

Eriksson (‘05/Sundsvall, Sweden) was hugely productive with three goals and five assists for eight points as the Monsters played a big offensive three-game weekend with Lake Tahoe, in which each of three games saw no less than 10 goals. Eriksson joined the Monsters in February of last season and currently has 24 points in his 18 career regular season games with the Monsters.

Defense: Carver Alford, Lake Tahoe Lakers

Returning Laker Alford (‘05/Lake Tahoe, Calif.) was the Premier’s overall leading scorer between Oct. 8-14 with two goals and 10 assists for 12 points, getting in on 12 of the 18 goals scored by the Lakers against Fresno over the weekend. The 12-point weekend pushed Alford into eighth on the all-time Lakers scoring leaderboard, and his 33 assists rank fourth for the Lakers, who joined the league in 2021-22.

Goaltender: Jakob Barcelona, Bakersfield Roughnecks

Another local product who has done well for his team, the ‘05 Bakersfield native Barcelona registered his fourth win – tied for fourth overall in the Premier – when he stopped 41 of 43 shots against the Long Beach Bombers on Oct. 12.

Northwest Division

Forward: Roman Wolynec, Seattle Totems

Wolynec (‘05/Langley, B.C.) continues to lead the USPHL Premier in scoring and holds that lead by eight points, with a line of nine goals and 25 assists for 34 points in just eight games. Most recently, he played in a single game on Oct. 12 against the Bremerton Sockeyes and put up a 2-4-6 line, and he has points in each one of his eight games.

Defense: Evan Mitchell, Vernal Oilers

Mitchell (‘06/Calgary, Alb.) put up two goals and two assists, including the game-winning goal, on Oct. 11 against the Colorado Fighting Elk. The first-year junior player has a 2-5-7 line in nine points.

Goaltender: Corbin Dugan, Iron County Yeti

Dugan (‘05/Fargo, N.D.) earned his first junior victory against the Colorado Fighting Elk on Oct. 13, with his 31 saves on 33 shots giving him a .939 save percentage for the game.

Southeast Division

Forward: Carter Radosta, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes

Radosta (‘05/Wake Forest, N.C.) has essentially been a Jr. Hurricane his entire hockey career, and he certainly showed his loyalty to the crest recently by putting up a hat trick and adding one assist in a two-game sweep against the Florida Division’s Atlanta MadHatters. The former USPHL Elite standout and 2023 National Champion, a great example of USPHL Advancement In Action, has a 5-4-9 line in seven Premier games.

Defense: Logan Walz, Charlotte Rush

The second-year Rush blueliner Walz (‘05/Phoenix, Ariz.) – a former Tahoe Prep Academy teammate of Lake Tahoe’s Carver Alford – registered two goals and two assists in a three-point weekend against Hampton Roads. He now has seven points in 11 games.

Goaltender: Evan Crawford, Charlotte Rush

Crawford (‘04/Greenwich, Conn.) put up a fantastic 35 saves on 37 shots in the Rush’s Sunday win against the Hampton Roads Whalers, and he remains undefeated in regulation at 3-0-1-1. He’s another USPHL Advancement In Action success story, having jumped up this year from the USPHL Elite Rush squad.
