Hockey Canada And CJHL To Keep Junior A Import Levels At Six Players

Contrary to rumor, the Canadian Junior Hockey League members, including all ten member leagues, will NOT be reducing import player numbers for the 2015-2016 season.

While import player numbers have been reduced in the past, Hockey Canada in a new partnership with the CJHL membership teams is now allowing for the CJHL to make those determinations on their own.

In the new working agreement, the CJHL will have a much larger voice within Hockey Canada as it relates to their future and the growth of Junior Hockey across the country.

Also in the new agreement are provisions regarding expansion, contraction, and other items that will reduce the role that Amateur Federations and Associations have in Junior Hockey decisions that do not directly effect those groups.

This part of the agreement will allow for greater geographical control within the leagues as it relates to actual travel distances for expansion and eliminate many disputed territories of the Amateur Federations and Associations.
