Wichita Jr. Thunder 5, Barrhead Bombers 2 
Five different skaters registered goals and a total of 11 had points in Wichita’s first three game sweep of opponents in the season.
Hunter Warner lit the lamp first just six minutes into the first half. The Jr. Thunder held the lead until the 3:43 mark of the same period as the Bomber’s Dmitro Kobylnyk tied it up 1-1.
Yoshtin Gunner was assessed a hooking penalty at 2:02 which resulted in a beautiful between-the-legs power play goal from Thien Gamble to regain Wichita lead.
Igor Katala jumped to a 3-1 lead at 18:21 of the second half before Telon Thomas extended the lead to 4-1. Barrhead would convert on a power play beating Dominik Janickar at 16:50.
Southern Oregon Spartans 8(SO), Cold Lake Hornets 7
The Southern Oregon Spartans and Cold Lake Hornets scored a total of 14 goals in the game, with a goal being scored about every four minutes. Southern Oregon overcame a three-goal deficit early.
Cold Lake let up three goals in the first half to give the Spartans a fighting chance with a 4-3 score. They did just that in converting on three straight goals including one short-handed effort from Yuval Halpert, unassisted.
Cold Lake got three unanswered goals late in the second half on two power plays. With the game in favor of Southern Oregon, 7-6, Andrew Rothmeier sent it to overtime with the tying goal at 1:13 of the second half.
Although there were 14 goals in regulation, neither team could buy a goal in overtime. Jeffrey Gula and Mitchell Rutledge both scored in the shootout and Christopher O’Shaughnessy made three saves to snap Southern Oregon’s 19 game winless streak.
Las Vegas Thunderbirds 1, Dallas Snipers 4
Four minutes into the bout, the Sniper’s Bradley Richardson scored his first of two goals giving the Snipers an initial lead. Alexander Aleshkin made 21 saves and the Dallas Snipers earn a sweep of their competition for the second year in a row.
Christoffer Juvas scored the lone goal for the Thunderbirds at 16:51 of the first half in a response to Richardson’s first. As both clubs traded blows, Richardson found his second of the morning at 10:22.
Dallas elected for two more goals including one from Michael Fatta at 5:17 and another from Todd Thompson with 14 seconds in the game.
Of note, Aleshkin earns his 12th win making him the fourth overall in wins just behind Sawyer Schmidt of El Paso.
Ogden Mustangs 5, Hinton Timberwolves 1
The Hinton Timberwolves stunned top seeded Ogden Mustangs with an opening goal from Brayden Harper. The Timberwolves held Ogden to zero goals in the first half and took the lead six minutes into the second.
Ogden’s strong wall-work and successful corner battles seemed to have taken a toll on Hinton who was caught by storm in the second.
The Mustangs started on five straight goals to assert their No. 1 position over Hinton. Gleb Shlyaiger opened for the Mustangs at 18:16 en route to four more distinct players with goals.
Ramil Talipov led all players with three points in three helpers and a total of four had multiple points. Travis Allen made 22 saves to backstop the Mustangs.
Edson Aeros 2, El Paso Rhinos 7
Last year the Edson Aeros took a four-goal advantage over the Rhinos before El Paso rallied back for the monstrous win. The Aeros fell short of reproducing that scoring production from last year, as they couldn’t gain a lead.
Niklas Ornmarker was the starlet for the Rhinos scoring a hat-trick and Michele Vignoli led with four points. Easton Easterson had himself a game with two goals.
The Aeros were outshot by more than double their count leaving Oliver Soovik with a light 16 saves to make. After Niklas Ornmarker ignited the scoring early at 23:45, Sebastian Heden found the back of the net on a power play to tie it up 1-1.
The chippy game didn’t fail to deliver excitement and big hits though the Rhinos grounded the Aeros with four straight goals at the end of the first and to begin the second.
El Paso capitalized on two shorthanded attempts further separating them from Edson by the waning minutes of the match.
Valencia Flyers 2, CPJHL 3
The Valencia Flyers won yesterday for the first time since Oct., but lacked the punch against CPJHL to remain in the win column. Three straight opening half goals, including two short handed, provided the cushion necessary to absorb a two-goal push from Valencia.
Ethan Scrimgeour, Juliusz Kowalski, and Chris Pryer lended the contributing hand for CPJHL to win its second game of Showcase.
Valencia was outshot in the second half but was able to beat David Barrett on two occasions in the second half. The Flyers finally had a positive power play when Nikita Garin scored to cut the lead.
The Flyer’s exuberance wore off after that but they were able to get it to within one when Michael Onda scored with 1:43 left.
Oklahoma City Blazers 0, Bellingham Blazers 2
The Bellingham Blazers reached only the third shutout of the Showcase as Saahil Mann locked it down in net making 37 saves. Milo Schneidmiller scored a brace in the second half giving Bellingham the two goal lead.
Schneidmiller scored at 18:46 and 4:55 and Seth Hebert assisted on both plays. Oklahoma City is the second highest scoring team in the Midwest Mountain Division and was shutout for only the third time this season.
Bellingham is now only one point from third place in the Northwest as they trail the Seattle Totems.
Seattle Totems 1, Pueblo Bulls 2 
A pair of goals in the first half lifted the Bulls over Seattle Totems and are now two wins deep into their first appearance at Showcase.
Milan Breczko and Ondrej Blaha scored at 9:39 and 4:02 while Henry Denee only had to make 16 saves as the Bulls drastically outshot Seattle 48-15.
The Totems failed to produce the adequate amount of offense but could sneak a goal past Rustam Kulizade at 3:11 of the first half.
Pueblo successfully held on for the win and skate to their 15th win and 43rd point in the Midwest-Mountain Division.
Utah Outliers 2, Fresno Monsters 0
The Utah Outliers evaded a sweep at Showcase following the shutout victory against the Fresno Monsters.
Oscar Wahlgren earned his ninth win and fifth shutout of the season.
The Outliers steadily scored a goal per half defeating Max Karlenzig at 10:58 of the first and 2:03 of the second half.
Joshua Harrell and Jakub Lelek’s short-handed bid got Utah on the board while outshooting Fresno 35 to 19 in the game.
Ontario Avalanche 2(OT), Northern Colorado Eagles 1
Kai Maunula was the overtime hero ended the game 2-1 at 3:30 of the extra time. Romi Huunonen made 26 saves to force the outcome.
Perhaps one of the big upsets of the day goes to the Ontario Avalanche defeating the Northern Colorado Eagles and holding them to one goal. The Avalanche have been surging as of late and the victory over the Eagles asserts the statement.
Ontario lit the lamp six minutes into the tilt on a goal by Gabel Longshore. Shots were even at 18 in the opening frame and again in the second frame until Jeremy Landers Jr. scored at 7:37.
San Diego Sabers 8, Southern Oregon Spartans 0
Although the Southern Oregon Spartans were playing in their second game of the day, the San Diego Sabers reached their biggest victory of the season.
The Sabers had a humble one goal first period before erupting for seven straight in the second half.
Ondrej Vaculik scored two goals and registered one assist while Trevor Wittkopf had a goal and two helpers.
In summation, seven different players scored goals for a dominant win in the final day of showcase. Mikulas Pluhacek captured his third win and first shutout of the season.
San Diego is one point ahead of Ontario for third and two points behind second place Las Vegas in the Western Division.
