American Players Complete European Trip

While many players are sitting home in the United States, a group of fifteen players, along with some parents and coaches made their way to Krakow Poland last week.

With a series of friendly games scheduled to originally take place back in April, the players were happy to finally get to play.

After three delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all documentation was prepared and everyone arrived without issue in Europe.

Lead by USPHL Premier Head Coach Zac Pearson, these young men enjoyed some competitive hockey while seeing some of the worlds most important historical sights.

“We had a nice tour of the Schindler Factory Museum, and some of the boys went to Auschwitz on a day off.” Said Pearson “Many thought that the tour of the Wawel Castle Cathedral was the highlight of the week though. Its not often in life you can walk through more than a thousand years of history of Kings and Queens and their burial sites.”

The parents who came along were excited to experience the trip with their children.

“It was a great week. We enjoyed the hockey, but the food and cultural experience has been amazing. Such a welcome change from North America and the stress of the pandemic.” Said one parent.

Along with historical sights, players had the opportunity to experience a different way of playing hockey on Olympic ice. Players were challenged to play outside of their comfort zone.

While these tours are designed to enjoy the host country and its culture, players are also coached and taught how to improve their game.

“We try to teach through experiences. We dont want to miss an opportunity to help these players get better even in friendly game environments.” Said Pearson

With another successful tour completed, more tours are being scheduled. Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Germany are just a few locations being prepared for next year.
