American Hockey Academy – Coaches Profile – Heath Gordon

The American Hockey Academy coaching staff is a leading indicator of just how much they value every players on and off ice experience. There is simply no substitute for quality people and quality teaching.

Heath Gordon is a name synonymous with success. The American Hockey Academy Director of Recruiting/U16 Coach/Skills Coach, wears many hats in order to help deliver a world class training and educational environment.

Heath is a Massachusetts native who played locally in the Boston area. He captured a MA state title with Catholic Memorial High School and a New England Prep Championship with Cushing Academy before moving out west to play for the Green Bay Gamblers in the USHL.

With the Gamblers, Gordon won a league championship and the Jr. A National Championship. During this span, Heath was drafted by the Oshawa Generals (OHL) and was a sixth-round pick of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.

Heath went on to play collegiate hockey at Providence College and then professionally for various teams in the ECHL and SPHL before moving into coaching.

Gordon began his coaching career in the USHL spending time with the Green Bay Gamblers and the Chicago Steel before moving back to the Boston area in 2008.

Since that time, Heath has been involved in working with various youth, high school, and junior programs in the area. He has worked as a player development/skills coach to both male and female players from the youth level through the professional ranks. Last season, Heath was the assistant coach for the Boston Pride of the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL).

Heath Gordon checks all the boxes a parent is looking for in a coach. Experienced, great communication, focus on development, and a championship pedigree. Having been there and done that, will help many young American Hockey Academy student athletes reach their goals.
