Wausau Cyclones Changing The Culture

It’s not often I get to write about positive experiences with teams that are undergoing an ownership change and a change in branding.

The Wausau Cyclones though have given me a good reason to write about them, and no, they do not sponsor TJHN and have not offered to sponsor TJHN. Opinions can not be bought here.

Recently I had a player on the team I own in Poland. That player had an agreement to play in Wausau for the 2021-2022 season, and had skated with the team at summer events.

This agreement and activity were unknown to me, so when the IIHF transfer was denied by Wausau I was shocked. Hearing there was money owed and that an agreement was being broken, I contacted the club immediately to get the background information.

The Coach, and ownership were completely forthcoming and shared everything. After some fair and open discussion terms were reached and the players IIHF paperwork was processed the next day.

Communication, and honesty are the hallmarks of good leadership, and of a culture that will create an environment where players will grow to become quality young men.

While Wausau has endured some hard to watch hockey the last few seasons, this new leadership, and the qualities that ownership has shown this early in the season will surely prove to change the direction of this franchise.

I wish them good luck this season, and hope to hear more good things as they look to develop and move players on to higher levels of hockey.
