USPHL Premier 2023-24 North Region Players Of The Week

Week of Dec. 8, 2023

Games of Dec. 1-5, 2023

New England Division

Forward: Max Abramson, Northern Cyclones

Abramson (‘03/Pacific Palisades, Calif.), returning to the team with which he won the 2023 Premier National Championship, had a fantastic single outing last week when he popped in four goals against the Boston Junior Bruins in a 7-0 win. He has 16 points in 14 games this year and 47 points in 54 career games.

Defense: Jace Hartman, Northern Cyclones

Hartman put up a pair of assists, was a +2 and blocked a shot during his outing against the Boston Junior Bruins. Hartman (‘03/Port Deposit, Md.) is one of several Cyclones who came back to Hudson after winning the 2023 Premier National Championship.

Goaltender: Chad Lowe, Utica Jr. Comets

Lowe (‘05/Skaneateles, N.Y.) is a first-year junior goalie with the Comets, but looked poised like the longest-serving veteran when he stopped 34 of 35 Islanders Hockey Club shots on Dec. 2. He currently stands at 4-1 with a 1.44 GAA and a .956 save percentage on the season.

Atlantic Division

Forward: Karson Grainey, Hershey Cubs

Grainey (‘05/Mount Union, Pa.) was absolutely monstrous for the Cubs in their weekend series against Brooklyn, posting six goals off back-to-back hat tricks and adding three more assists for nine points in two games. Hershey remains on a 12-game winning streak, and Grainey has scored 29 points in 19 games as a first-year junior player.

Defense: Alexander Couture, Hershey Cubs

Couture (‘06/Stevensville, Md.) was the Cubs’ leader on the ice in many ways during their series against Brooklyn, leading in ice time at 23:38 per game and also in plus-minus (+13), and he led the team’s D corps in offense with a goal and three assists for four points.

Goaltender: Ryan Rhodes, Rockets Hockey Club

Rhodes (‘04/Ludlow, Mass.) was unbeaten in the W-L column and very nearly so in the goals side as well, giving up just one goal in each of two Rockets wins over the Elmira Impact last weekend. Officially, he was 2-0 with 68 saves on 70 shots for a .971 save percentage. On the season, he is 5-5-0-1 with a .922 save percentage.
