New England Division
Forward: Bryan Weissler, Junior Bruins
Weissler came out of a three-game weekend against the College Universel Gatineau and South Shore with a run of four goals and two more assists for six points. These six points are part of an overall six-game point streak that has seen him post 10 total points. A past USPHL 16U player, he has hit a point per game average of 1.00 with 22 points in 22 games at the midseason mark.
Defense: Cameron Gardiner, Utica Jr. Comets
Gardiner (‘04/Tilbury, Ont.) put up a pair of assists in a win for the Jr. Comets against the Elmira Impact, and also put up five blocked shots and five hits – leading the team in both categories – to help his team get the “W.” He now has nine assists in 22 games this season and 15 points in 36 career Premier games
Goaltender: Nicholas Mutschler, Northern Cyclones
Mutschler (‘03/Mechanicsburg, Pa.) stopped 53 of 65 shots that he faced over the weekend to help him go 2-0 at the USPHL Florida College Showcase. He stopped all 25 he faced for a #ShutoutShoutout against the Atlanta MadHatters, giving him a .964 save percentage for the weekend.
Atlantic Division
Forward: Joona Juntunen, Connecticut Jr. Rangers
Juntunen (‘03/Hyvinkaa, Finland) has already blown past the already impressive 47 points he had in a full season last year. Most recently, he registered a 3-4-7 line in two games. That output lifted him to 105 points, making his fifth points in a 2-3-5 performance on Dec. 13 his 100th career USPHL Premier point.
Defense: Markus Andrews, Connecticut Jr. Rangers
The second-year Premier blueliner Andrews (‘03/Stockholm, Finland) put up six assists in his most recent two games against the Rockets Hockey Club. He also has 14 points over his last seven games. He also averaged two hits per game over the series.
Goaltender: Perry Jacobs, P.A.L. Jr. Islanders
Jacobs (‘04/Sparks, Nev.) is a third-year USPHL veteran and first-year Jr. Islander who stopped 28 out of 30 shots on Dec. 16 to defeat the Hershey Cubs in overtime. For the season, after also playing on Dec. 20, he has a 3-3-2-0 record with a .918 save percentage.
