USPHL Elite 2023-24 South Region Players Of The Week

Week of Dec. 22, 2023

Games of Dec. 13-18, 2023

Southeast Division

Forward: Ilya Biesiedin, Potomac Patriots

Two hat tricks and and an additional game-winning goal made Biesiedin the biggest individual threat at the USPHL Florida College Showcase last weekend. He put up a total of seven goals and added three assists for 10 points in his four games at the event in Estero, Fla. He has improved to 34 points in 19 games this season (scoring points in every game since Oct. 16) and 86 points in 86 regular season games.

Defense: Ryan Bonfrancesco, Charlotte Rush

Bonfrancesco (‘05/Emmaus, Pa.) led the Rush at the USPHL Florida College Showcase with an average ice time of 20:30 per game, and he used that time productively. He posted a 1-5-6 line in four games and was a +6 for the event. A product of the Valley Forge Minutemen AAA program, he has 11 points in 19 Elite games this year, and he’s also been called up for four Premier games.

Goaltender: Ashton Goble, Charlotte Rush

Goble (‘04/Colorado Springs, Colo.) faced 54 shots from the Florida Eels and Northern Cyclones – two teams that have joined the Rush at the past couple of Elite Nationals – and he gave up just two over that stretch for a pair of wins. The highlight was on Dec. 16, when he stopped 36 of 37 Cyclones shots. For the season, he is 4-3-0-0 with a .916 save percentage.

Florida Division

Forward: Jan Zeman, Tampa Bay Juniors

The local product Zeman (‘06/Clearwater, Fla.) picked a great time to have a breakout performance, putting up a 2-2-4 run over his three games at the USPHL Florida College Showcase, skating in front of the college scouts looking for future prospects. One of his two goals on Dec. 15 against the Northern Cyclones was a shorthanded goal. He now has 20 points in 25 games this season with the Juniors, while also skating this year for nearby Palm Harbor University High School.

Defense: Kevin Suchy, Atlanta MadHatters

Suchy is a second-year MadHatter out of Slovakia, and in both years, he has seen time at both the Elite and Premier levels. Most recently, he put up a 2-5-7 line in his four games at the USPHL Florida College Showcase. He registered a team-leading 26:12 of ice time per game to lead the team and even stepping into the faceoff circle four times, winning draws twice. He has 19 points in 21 games.

Goaltender: Christian Amato, Atlanta MadHatters

Amato (‘05/Cape May Courthouse, N.J.) had his division’s best performance at the USPHL Florida College Showcase when he shut out the Motor City Gamblers with 27 saves on Dec. 15. That was his second shutout of the season (the other taking place Oct. 6 at the USPHL Southeast Showcase). He has gone 6-5-0-0 this season with a .931 save percentage.
