The National Collegiate Development Conference is proud to announce that P.A.L. Jr. Islanders Defenseman Coleson Hanrahan has been named as the Atlantic Division 2023-24 Defenseman Of The Year.

Hanrahan (‘05/Longmeadow, Mass.) played in 39 games and registered seven goals and 36 assists for 43 points, playing until Feb. 3. From there, he was permanently called up for the remainder of the season to the United States Hockey League’s Youngstown Phantoms. With the Phantoms, he scored

Hanrahan came up from his Bantam years with the Connecticut Huskies, a team from which he was drafted the NCDC Futures Draft by the Jr. Islanders back in 2020. From the Huskies, he went on to join the Springfield Pics at the 16U level. With the Pics, Hanrahan helped the team win the 2020-21 USPHL 16U American Division championship, their second straight. He put up a combined 35 points in 16 games that year, and came back the next year for six games, while spending most of 2021-22 with the Jr. Islanders’ Premier team, scoring seven points in 25 games. He earned his spot the next season with the eventual Dineen Cup champion Jr. Islanders of the NCDC in 2022-23, registering 21 points in a combined 56 games en route to the Cup win.

This year, in addition to his already impressive aforementioned offensive stats, Hanrahan skated an average of 24:29 per game (second on the team), and he was also second on the Jr. Isles’ defense with a +24 rating on the season. His 77 hits and 111 blocked shots led the way for P.A.L., and his 392 takeaways – an average of 10 per game – ranked third.

His 64 points in 88 career games are third in P.A.L. team history among defensemen.

I am honored to be named Atlantic Division Defenseman of the Year, but wouldn’t be able to do it without all of my teammates and coaches at P.A.L.,” said Hanrahan. “I can’t thank all of them enough, especially Coaches Mike Marcou and Frank DiChiara for helping me grow my game and molding me into the player I am today. They are the reason I am able to receive this award and I just want to thank the P.A.L. organization as a whole.”

“We are very happy to see the way Coleson developed on and off the ice. He helped our organization build the culture it has,” said Coach Marcou. “He was missed down the stretch on the ice!”

The NCDC joins the P.A.L. Jr. Islanders in congratulating Coleson Hanrahan on being named Atlantic Division 2023-24 Defenseman Of The Year.
