Former Nashville Spartans Move To Clarksville, Tenn., To Become Red River Spartans

By Red River Spartans Staff

The former Nashville Spartans have officially transitioned into a new era as the Red River Spartans and have relocated the team to Clarksville, Tenn.. Located just 45 minutes northwest from Nashville, Clarksville is a city that has experienced steady growth over the past decade and is now home to over 200,000 people.

Clarksville is also home to the United States Army installation, Fort Campbell. Fort Campbell is a world class community and is home of the Screaming Eagles, of the 101st Airborne – the Army’s only Air Assault Division.

In 2023 F&M Bank Arena and Force Ice Center opened their doors to the Clarksville community and it did not take long for this passionate community to rally behind the greatest sport on earth, hockey.

The Red River Spartans Ownership group caught wind of the hockey-hungry community and it most certainly grabbed their attention.

“We were contacted by a group of individuals within the Clarksville community and they expressed that the town is craving more hockey. After several meetings with the individuals that run the hockey organizations in Clarksville there was no doubt that this was an excellent opportunity to get involved. It is our goal as an organization to provide the best possible hockey experience for our players and families. In order to do that we feel strongly that community support and involvement are paramount. The Clarksville community has already welcomed us with open arms and we are excited to give back to the community every chance we get. The community has a saying ‘Clarksville supports Clarksville’ and we’ve experienced this first-hand. This is something special that we look forward to being a part of,” said Spartans Co-Owners Zach Sabatini and Jon Tuggle.

The Red River Spartans will be playing their home-opening weekend games against the Columbus Mavericks in F&M Bank Arena. F&M Bank Arena seats around 6,000 fans and the Red River Spartans have big plans in place to create quite the spectacle on the weekend of Sept. 13-14.

“We’ve been working very diligently on preparing for opening weekend. It’s a great opportunity to represent the USPHL and we hope to provide an exciting experience for the players and fans. This is an amazing new chapter for this organization and we can not wait for puck drop on Friday, September 13th at F&M Bank Arena.”
