The Death Pool – NJHL Trying To Weasel Back Into Hinton Alberta

The NJHL, was up to its old tricks once again in Alberta.

For those that dont remember, Hinton once had a team in the old WSHL, and it was called the Hinton Wildcats. Those famous Wildcats lasted all of one season in 2018-2019.

When the team was kicked out of the WSHL due to not paying bills, and leaving debt across the whole town, it was immediately replaced by the Hinton Timberwolves. The Timberwolves would later go on to play in the CAJHL after leaving the WSHL.

That Timberwolves team in the CAJHL has now taken a year off along with the rest of the CAJHL to regroup for the 2025 season. So of course, it should come as no surprise that they thinks they can slide back into Hinton and back into the community that the Timberwolves have built up for the last five years.

The citizens of Hinton have not forgotten the wake of disaster that the Wildcats left the last time he operated in Hinton. Multiple sources have reported to TJHN that yesterday evening the Town of Hinton was set to discuss this proposal.

A local social media campaign has begun in Hinton to keep the NJHL out of Hinton;

“Ok Hintonites…I just heard this morning that the owner of the old Hinton Wildcats Junior Hockey team that was sent packing in 2019 for unpaid bills is trying to get his foot in the door again with the Hinton Timberwolves and CAJHL going dormant this year to regroup. For any of you out there who are junior hockey fans take it from those of us who have experienced both sides of this and DO NOT support this idea by the Town of Hinton to let this league back into our great hockey town. If you know someone with the Town of Hinton let them know this is not a good look for our community and that they should do their research. There is a large group of dedicated junior hockey fans in Hinton that will never support this league and it would be a huge mistake to go forward with this. C’mon Hinton…do your thing!”

While there is no report from the Town of Hinton as to what took place at the meeting last night, it looks as though the hockey fans in Hinton are willing to wait for the return of the Timberwolves, and would rather not have hockey at all if the option is a team in the NJHL.

With reports coming out of Alberta that multiple NJHL teams are having problems with recruiting, and may be on the verge of folding, its no wonder people are questioning this attempt on Hinton.

Its September 4th, and no schedule for the NJHL has been released. Everyone should be questioning everything that this league and the “hockey genius” propose.
