Great Lakes Division
Forward: Caden Cavalieri, Columbus Mavericks
Cavalieri (’04/Amherst, N.Y.) scored four goals and added five assists for a nine-point weekend, the most for any single player on a USPHL Premier opening weekend (since the start of the league in 2017). He became just the second Mavericks player to score four goals in a game, when he put up a 4-2-6 line on Saturday night in the Mavs’ second win against Cincinnati.
Defense: Michal Jansa, Columbus Mavericks
The 2007-born Czech exploded into the Premier with a goal and four assists for five points in his first junior weekend. His four-point game on Saturday was the most in a game for a Mavericks defenseman since Jan. 21, 2022 (Ryan Lempicki).
Goaltender: Lukas Kamenicky, Columbus Mavericks
A teammate of Jansa with HC Dynamo Pardubice in their home country of Czechia, this 2006-born goalie stopped 39 of 41 shots to give the Mavericks a season-opening victory on Sept. 6. That was good for a single game save percentage of .951.
Canada Division
Forward: Alexis Roy, Hawkesbury Knights
Roy (’05/Mercier, Que.) registered a hat trick and added one assist in the first-ever USPHL Premier game played in Canada and the Canada Division opener on Sept. 7. Two of the goals were scored shorthanded. It was the first time since the 2022-23 season that a player scored a hat trick in their organization’s first-ever game.
Defense: Odile Grenier, Montreal Black Vees
Grenier (’07/Levis, Que.) registered the first goal of the season for the Black Vees, giving his team an offensive spark late in their season-opening loss to Hawkesbury.
Goaltender: Jeremie Barron, Hawkesbury Knights
Barron (’04/Vaudreuil, Que.) stopped 43 shots of the 45 that the Black Vees put on Hawkesbury. That gave Barron a league-leading .956 save percentage out of the gate for this new 2024-25 season.
