The Death Pool – Fox Creek Ice Kings First To Fold This Week

There are a lot of signs you can look for when it comes to the health of any franchise. One of them is easily identifiable to anyone with an internet connection.

When a team doesnt update their website since January of 2024, and the last update before that simply doesnt exist, you might have a good idea that things arent all that good.

Well, the Fox Creek Ice Kings, have finally been taken off of life support. From the beginning of the 2020-2021 season, the Ice Kings had disaster written all over them. Not once did this team have a winning record, and they were as active in the community as they were on the score board.

Rumors have been persistent that this team would fold for the last two years, and they have now finally come to fuition.

The community members of Fox Creek Alberta were quick to reach out to TJHN via social media yesterday to express their thoughts on the Ice Kings departure. None of those thoughts expressed were complimentary in nature.

But, Fox Creek is not the only franchise that will be going under. Franchises are expected to pull a David Copperfield in multiple cities across North America this week and next. While multiple teams are planning to try and push forward with ten, or eleven skaters, the smart people will pull the plug and regroup for next year.

Players who begin their seasons this weekend and next only have to look around the dressing room and count how many players there are to get an idea of where their franchise health is. And goalies? Ummmmm well, if there are six of you in the room, you might want to talk to a mental health professional because its either going to be a long season, or a short one.

Stick around, someone may walk through the hockey team ICU and kick some plugs out of the wall real soon.
