Games of Sept. 24-30
Forward: Dylan Reynolds, Islanders Hockey Club
The Islanders started out 4-0, and returning veteran Dylan Reynolds (‘04/Middletown, Conn.) lit it up at the BJB Shootout for four goals and six assists for 10 points. He improved his three-year career total to 70 points.
Defense: Nick Zanin, Springfield Pics
Zanin (‘04/West Stockbridge, Mass.) is another Premier veteran getting the job done early for his team. Zanin put up two goals and seven assists for nine points, and was the highest-scoring defenseman in the league last week.
Goaltender: Angel Spinelli, Boston Jr. Rangers
Spinelli (‘05/San Antonio, Texas) turned aside 63 saves on 65 shots, including one shutout victory – his first in junior hockey. He stands at 2-0 out of the gate.
Atlantic Division
Forward: Dylan Helmueller, Rockets Hockey Club
Returning Rocket Helmueller (‘07/Anchorage, Alaska) blew up for five goals – including a four-goal performance – plus two assists for seven points, averaging 3.5 points per game in just two contests. Overall, he now has 12 points through five games.
Defense: Ronan Moore, Rockets Hockey Club
Moore (‘08/Denver, Colo.) has had a fantastic start to his junior career, playing in five games and averaging a point per game. He had four assists in his past two games alone, which saw split results against the first-year Red Bank Generals.
Goaltender: Noah Pfab, Hershey Cubs
A repeat winner of this prize, Pfab (‘07/Nurnberg, Germany) stopped 51 of 52 shots to earn the Cubs’ first victory of the season, avenging a 5-1 loss to the same Jersey Hitmen from a day before. His .971 save percentage over two games is tied for fifth best in the Premier among goaltenders with multiple appearances.
Canada
Forward: Jeff White, Montreal Black Vees
White (‘07/Val d’Or, Que.) scored his first junior hat trick and also added two more goals and an assist for a 5-1-6 line in the Vees’ four games at the BJB Shootout. With a 6-2-8 line in nine games, he is tied for the team lead in scoring.
Defense: Odile Grenier, Montreal Black Vees
Celebrating his second Defenseman of the Week honor this year already, Grenier, a 2007-born native of St-Etienne, Que., was strong in posting three assists and helping the Vees earn their first win against a non-divisional opponent (the host Boston Junior Bruins).
Goaltender: Alexis Cloutier, Universel Sherbrooke
Sherbrooke went 2-1-1-0 at the BJB Shootout, and the play of Cloutier was a big reason why. The 2008-born native of Laval, Que., has started his season at 2-0 and he stopped 28 of 30 shots to a Universel win against the Junior Bruins.
Selection Process: Division statistical leaders are presented to coaches, who can choose to nominate alternate candidates for selection.
