USPHL Premier Players Of The Week: South Region

Games of Sept. 24-30

 

Southeast Division 

Forward: Levente Pakozdi, Charlotte Rush

Pakozdi (‘04/Budapest, Hungary) had a big four-game showing at the USPHL Southeast Showcase, one of the first two showcase events of the season. He was extremely generous to his teammates, putting up six assists in the four games. At 1-9-10, he is on a six-game assist streak, after coming to the Rush from the NA3HL. 

 

Defense: Tristin McAuliffe, Charlotte Rush

Returning for a second time to this honor in the month of September, McAuliffe (‘08/Raleigh, N.C.) is showing that youthful exuberance is definitely a strength. He put up three goals from the blue line in the Southeast Showcase. In eight games, he has a 3-4-7 line. 

 

Goaltender: Nate McAlpine, Hampton Roads Whalers

McAlpine (‘06/Sioux Falls, S.D.) was outstanding in his two appearances at the Southeast Showcase. Along with an 11-shot shutout, he also stopped 27 of 28 shots against the Florida Jr. Blades, for a total of 38 saves on 39 shots. That gave him a .974 save percentage and just a 0.50 GAA for two outings. He is currently 3-0 on the season with a .947 cumulative save percentage. 

 

Florida Division

Forward: Kelton Bradshaw, Bold City Battalion 

Returning Battalion forward Bradshaw (‘05/Fort Collins, Colo.) put together three goals and added one assist to average a point per game for the Battalion’s run at the USPHL Southeast Showcase, where they were undefeated in regulation at 2-0-1-1. 

 

Defense: Ethan Fredericks, Atlanta MadHatters

Fredericks (‘06/Toronto, Ont.) put up a goal and three assists for the Atlanta MadHatters in their four games in Chesapeake, Va. Fredericks joined the MadHatters, who went 3-1-0-0 at the Southeast Showcase, from the NA3HL. 

 

Goaltender: Raymond Thompson, Bold City Battalion 

Thompson (‘06/Orange Park, Fla.) was definitely a standout at the Southeast Showcase. For the two games in which he appeared – a win and a shootout loss – he put up 62 saves on 63 shots for a .984 save percentage. This included a 31-save shutout against the host Hampton Roads Whalers. He is 1-0-1-1 with a .955 save percentage. He joined the Battalion from the Tier 1 Hockey Federation’s Maine Jr. Mariners AAA program.

 

Selection Process: Division statistical leaders are presented to coaches, who can choose to nominate alternate candidates for selection.
