USPHL Premier Players Of The Week: South Region

Week of Oct. 9, 2024

Games of Oct. 1-7, 2024

Southeast Division

Forward: Levente Pakozdi, Charlotte Rush

Pakozdi (‘04/Budapest, Hungary) registered a line of 4-3-7 line over two games against the Potomac Patriots, including a 3-3-6 line in their Oct. 6 victory – and his third goal was the overtime winner – to help the Rush stay undefeated in regulation through 10 games (7-0-2-1). With 17 points, Pakozdi is ranked in the top 20 for league scoring.

Defense: Bowen Lopez, Potomac Patriots

Lopez (‘04/Woodstock, Ill.) registered three assists to help the Patriots to an eventual point from an overtime loss in a three-point weekend against the Charlotte Rush. He assisted on the tying goal to force OT on Sunday.

Goaltender: Ryan Kalina, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes

The career Jr. Hurricanes player Kalina (‘05/Raleigh, N.C.) stopped 25 of 26 shots to help Carolina to a big win against the Hampton Roads Whalers on Oct. 5. Kalina has both of the Jr. Canes wins on the season. He was a 2023-24 USPHL Elite All-Star, so he is certainly a great example of USPHL Advancement In Action.

Florida Division

Forward: Jarrett Ireland, Bold City Battalion

Ireland (‘05/Ashburn, Va.) put up three goals – including a shorthanded goal – and added one assist on Oct. 5 for the Battalion, who are undefeated in regulation in their last six out of seven total games. The second-year Battalion has five points in seven games this year.

Defense: Emil Grinsvall, Bold City Battalion

Grinsvall (‘04/Goteborg, Sweden), a returning 2023-24 Florida Division All-Star, registered four assists in the Battalion’s single game of the last week, a 7-4 victory against Palm Beach. Grinsvall, who had 41 points last season, has started out on a similar pace with six points in his first seven contests of this year.

Goaltender: Savva Serdiuk, Tampa Bay Juniors

The fourth-year Premier veteran Serdiuk (‘04/Kyiv, Ukraine) stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced in a 5-1 win over the Florida Jr. Blades, giving him his third straight victory out of the gates this year, along with a .929 save percentage.
