USPHL Premier Players Of The Week: Midwestern Region

Games of Oct. 1-7, 2024

 

North Division 

Forward: Bryce Laager, Hudson Havoc 

After scoring five goals in his first game of the season, Laager (‘04/Blaine, Minn.) registered four goals and two assists for six points during the Havoc’s split weekend with the Northwest Express. The Premier and NCDC veteran now has 12 points in three Premier games this season. 

 

Defense: Jake Knieling, Dells Ducks

The second-year Premier veteran Knieling (‘05/Arlington Heights, Ill.) registered a 1-4-5 line as the Ducks came away with two more wins for a huge 4-0 start out of the gate. He had four assists against the Steele County Blades on Oct. 4 to help them come back from a deficit of 2-1 and a tie of 3-3 to win 5-4. 

 

Goaltender: Jackson Clough, Minnesota Blue Ox 

Second-year Blue Ox goalie Clough (‘05/Andover, Minn.) turned away 92 of 96 shots over the course of two games in a split weekend against the Minnesota Squatch (win) and the Minnesota Mullets (loss). Overall, that counted for a .958 save percentage and a 2.02 goals against average. Clough currently holds a .923 save percentage for the season.

Great Lakes Division

Forward: Joseph Martin, Metro Jets

The Jets played in just one game, a decisive victory against the Fresh Coast Freeze, but they looked in mid-season form as the 2004-born Swede Martin put up a pair of goals and added three assists for five points. The former Metro Jets Development Player (MJDP) is clicking along at 4-5-9 in four games.

 

Defense: Jack Schnur, Metro Jets 

Schnur (‘05/Kalamazoo, Mich.) registered two goals and added one assist for three points. The former Portage High School player stands with four points in his first four Jets games. 

 

Goaltender: Andrew Young, Red River Spartans

Young (‘04/Arlington Heights, Ill.) stopped 19 of 20 shots against the Battle Creek Kernels to improve to 4-3-0-1 on the season with the Spartans, who are enjoying their first year in their new home of Clarksville, Tenn. 

 

Midwest Division 

Forward: Jackson Cothron, Fort Wayne Spacemen

Cothron (‘04/Indianapolis, Ind.) is on a tear, especially after adding a hat trick and an assist to his current total of 5-4-9 in just four games off the bat. The hat trick and assist came in the Spacemen’s only game last week against the Great Lakes Division’s Columbus Mavericks. 

 

Defense: Antoine Bonin, Fort Wayne Spacemen 

The second-year Premier veteran Bonin (‘04/Bromont, Que.) registered a goal and an assist during the win against the Mavericks. He has a 2-2-4 line in his first four games of the season. 

 

Goaltender: Jordan Nicolucci, Fort Wayne Spacemen 

Nicolucci (‘04/Montreal, Que.) registered a 25-save shutout in his second appearance of the season, against the Columbus Mavericks. A second-year Premier veteran, he currently stands at 2-0 with a .957 save percentage.
