NCDC Mountain Division Players Of The Month: October 2024

Note: October Players Of The Month includes September statistics.

Forwards

Siamion Marshchanok, Pueblo Bulls

A perfect example of USPHL Advancement In Action, Marshchanok (‘05/Minsk, Belarus) was last year’s USPHL Premier Fans Choice MVP, and today, he is an NCDC Player Of The Month winner. Marschanok registered six goals and six assists for 12 points in 10 games in October, making his league debut at the NCDC Frozen Futures showcase in Idaho Falls on Oct. 2.

Easton Edwards, Idaho Falls Spud Kings

Edwards (‘05/Anchorage, Alaska) is a second-year Spud King who was shot out of a cannon to start the season, posting points in his first four games and five of his first six. By the time October was over, Edwards had registered four goals and nine assists for 13 points, for an average of 1.08 points per game. Currently sitting with 14 points, he is just two off his full-season total from 2023-24 of 16 points.

Brody Simko, Ogden Mustangs

Simko (‘04/Butler, Pa.) led the Mountain Division in points per game up to the end of October, registering 1.27 per game off a line of 10 goals and four assists for 14 points in 11 games. His 10 goals were tied for the lead in goals scored up to Halloween. Simko has 60 points in 62 NCDC games, and is six points off tying for the Mustangs’ team record in NCDC points.

Forward Honorable Mention: Jackson Walsh, Ogden Mustangs

Defensemen

Lucas Karlsson, Idaho Falls Spud Kings

In his second season as a Spud King, Karlsson (‘05/Koping, Sweden) was a strong presence for Idaho Falls right from the get-go, and came up with a 1-5-6 line in nine games. He also helped the Spud Kings to an early season stretch of five games in which they allowed just three goals, including two shutouts to start the NCDC Frozen Futures Showcase to kick off October. The Spud Kings finished October third in team goals against average at 2.08.

Mykyta Bondariev, Pueblo Bulls

The second-year Bull Bondariev (‘06/Kyiv, Ukraine) was a stabilizing presence on the Bulls’ blue line, and one that helped them come off a shaky start to win five in a row starting with their second game at the NCDC Frozen Futures showcase. In the end, he put up a 2-5-7 line in 11 games, and he has already passed his 2023-24 point total.

Defenseman Honorable Mention: Ryan Tong, Ogden Mustangs

Goaltender

Hunter Bauer, Ogden Mustangs

Bauer (‘06/Bristow, Va.) has been an amazing pickup as a rookie for the Mustangs, going 4-1 with a four-game winning streak to the end of October. In that span, he earned three shutout wins between Oct. 4 and Oct. 18, giving him the league lead in blankings. All the while, he gave up five total goals while seeing an average of 29.2 shots per game.

Goaltender Honorable Mention: Devin Peck, Pueblo Bulls

Selection Process: The division’s coaches are presented with a ballot form with statistical leaders (ranked by points per game average for skaters and save percentage for goaltenders) and vote on that form. The league takes the results of that vote and presents the coaches with the finalists, who are able to vote on further changes if desired.
