NCDC Roundup: Dec. 7, 2024

Utica Jr. Comets 5, Boston Jr. Rangers 2

Alfred Lundkvist (’04/Angelholm, Sweden) and Xavier Goodwin (’05/Alpharetta, Ga.) each put up a goal and an assist to help the Jr. Comets to the Saturday win. Michael Valenta (’05/Sumperk, Czechia) was strong in net with 35 saves on 37 shots.

 

Mercer Chiefs 3, Connecticut Jr. Rangers 1

The Chiefs moved into a three-way tie for the Atlantic Division lead at 16, after defeating the Connecticut Jr. Rangers. William Filteau (’05/Clarenceville, Que.) scored the game-winning goal and added an assist, while Samuel Ciappa (’05/Baldwinsville, N.Y.) registered a 1-1-2 line as well. Dominick Gatto (’05/St. Charles, Mo.) stopped 26 of 27 shots he faced and that 32nd career win broke him into the top 10 all-time in the NCDC.

 

Jersey Hitmen 3, Rockets Hockey Club 2

An unanswered three-goal run ended up being the difference to help the Hitmen pick up two points that lifted them to 35 points in a tie for first in the Atlantic Division. Aiden Ryan (’04/Raleigh, N.C.) had a goal and two assists, and Sammy Mielock (’04/Grand Rapids, Mich.) put up a 1-1-2 line. Nick Bunch (’05/Canton, Mich.) put up 41 saves on 43 shots in the win.

 

Islanders Hockey Club 5, Thunder Hockey Club 0 

Defenseman Nicholas Lai (’06/San Jose, Calif.) scored two goals and added one assist, while fellow blueliner Andrey Bondarev (’04/Stockholm, Sweden) had three assists in the 5-0 victory against the Thunder. Recent IHC newcomer Christian Day (’04/Barre, Vt.) , a Skidmore College commit, put up a goal and an assist. In net, Ryan Crowshaw (’04/Avon, Conn.) made 14 saves.

 

Idaho Falls Spud Kings 4, Utah Outliers 3

The Spud Kings have earned points in nine straight games after winning Saturday night at 4-3, going 8-0-1-0. Charlie Durkin (’06/Glencoe, Ill.) made 22 saves in 25 shots, while Andrew Schmidt (’05/Chicago, Ill.)  had a goal and an assist. Defenseman William Strickland (’06/Westerville, Ohio) scored the GWG with his first ever NCDC marker.

 

Ogden Mustangs 5, Rock Springs Grizzlies 2

Denis Kumenkov (’06/Moscow, Russia) scored twice while the Mustangs also got a goal and an assist apiece from Owen Hendrikson (’04/Rosemount, Minn.) and Brody Simko (’04/Butler, Pa.). Dishing out two assists apiece were Jack Bartfield (’04/Bloomington, minn.) and Tom Jacques (’04/Louisville, Ky.) In net, Dilans Birkans (’06/Ilskile, Latvia) made 36 saves for the victory.

 

Pueblo Bulls 5, Casper Warbirds 4

It was a close one, but the Bulls came out with the victory on Saturday night against Casper in a rousing home game. Scoring his first NCDC goal was USPHL Premier standout Liam Coutu (’06/Granby, Que.), a great example of #USPHLAdvancement In Action. He also had an assist. Matsvei Marshchanok (’05/Minsk, Belarus) had two goals and one assist, while twin brother Siamion Marshchanok sent out three assists. Gavin Barr (’05/Colorado Springs, Colo.) had a goal and an assist, and in net, Devin Peck (’05/Colorado Springs, Colo.) made 39 saves on 43 shots, giving him both wins on the weekend.
