Islanders Hockey Club 3, Northern Cyclones 2 (OT)
Cameron Stehle (’06/Raleigh, N.C.) put up the game-winning overtime goal and also had an assist for the Islanders to avenge a Friday loss to the Northern Cyclones. Ryan Crowshaw (’04/Avon, Conn.) made 44 saves on 46 shots to capture the win, his 12th of the season.
South Shore Kings 5, Utica Jr. Comets 4 (OT)
South Shore still refuses to leave empty-handed, putting up a 22-0-2-0 record since their Sept. 19 opener. They defeated the Utica Jr. Comets, 5-4, in overtime on Saturday afternoon. Xavier Vaillancourt (’04/Pointe-Claire, Que.) put in the winner. His four points in the last four games give him a career best of 20 points in 25 games. Hunter Bruce (’05/Dartmouth, N.S.) and Jake Kavanagh (’05/Montreal, Que.) each had a goal and an assist, while Will Rassier (’04/Princeton, N.J.) had two assists. Goaltender William Baker (’05/Norwalk, Conn.) put up 31 saves on 35 shots.
Mercer Chiefs 2, Rockets Hockey Club 1
The Chiefs improved to 2-0-1-0 in their last three games, and they’re two points back of a tie for the Atlantic Division lead. Gregory Diamond (’04/West Chester, Pa.) scored a game-winning shorthanded goal to improve his franchise record scoring total to 57 points. Dominick Gatto (’05/St. Charles, Ill.) stopped 32 of 33 for his 35th career win, which leads all active NCDC goalies and is ranked sixth all-time in the NCDC.
West Chester Wolves 3, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights 1
The Wolves were 3-1 winners against the WBS Knights, a game in which Bryan Weissler (’04/Floral Park, N.Y.) scored twice, including the GWG. Weissler is a former #USPHLPremier standout who’s been enjoying great success in the #NCDC, a great example of #USPHLAdvancement In Action. Emil Szepesi (’06/Timra, Sweden) had the other goal and assisted on both of Weissler’s. Ryan Harris (’06/Abington, Pa.) stopped 24 of 25 shots in his NCDC debut after joining from the OJHL’s Markham Royals.
Idaho Falls Spud Kings 3, Utah Outliers 1
The Spud Kings came out with a 3-1 victory, which improved their point streak to 14 games (11-0-2-1). Ronald Wade (’06/Clarkston, Mich.) scored the game-winner, his first of the year, and currently has 15 points in 27 games this year. Andrew Schmidt (’05/Chicago, Ill.) scored a goal and an assist as well, and Charlie Durkin (’06/Glencoe, Ill.) stopped 38 of 39 shots and he is personally 11-0-1-1 going back to Nov. 8.
Casper Warbirds 3, Rock Springs Grizzlies 2 (SO)
Ty Bashaw (’06/Fond du Lac, Wis.) scored the shootout winner for the Warbirds, while in net, Peter Baldwin (’04/Chicago, Ill.) made an outstanding 60 saves on 62 shots, plus three more in the shootout for his first win this season.
Ogden Mustangs 10, Pueblo Bulls 1
The Mustangs ended their 2024 schedule with their third win in a row, which also gave them a one-point lead in the Mountain Division going into the holiday break. They got goals from eight different players, with both Liam Van Valkenburgh (’06/Park City, UT) and Denis Kuzmenkov (’06/Moscow, Russia) each putting up two goals. Ryan Tong (’04/Burnaby, B.C.) scored a goal and added three assists, and Nikita Schneider (’05/Bern, Switzerland) had a 1-2-3 line. Brooks Cogswell (’05/Andover, Minn.) and Tom Jacques (’04/Louisville, Ky.) each had one goal and one assist, and the trio of Troy Hunka (’06/North Canton, Ohio), Tommy Fetterman (’05/Downington, Pa.) and William Chrniak (’04/Desert Blume, Alb.) each had two assists. Hunter Bauer (’06/Bristow, Va.) stopped 29 of 30 shots.
