USPHL Premier Players Of The Week: Midwestern Region

Week of Jan. 9

Games played Jan. 1-6

Forward: Spencer Kauke, Chicago Crush 

The season points leader for Chicago Crush, Kauke (‘05/) added five points to his scorecard last week, scoring one goal and four assists over two games and continuing a seven-game points streak that began on Dec. 6. He is in his third Premier season, with 106 games played and 77 career points.

 

Defense: Antoine Bonin, Fort Wayne Spacemen 

Bonin (‘05/Bromont, Canada) registered three goals and one assist across four games last week with the Fort Wayne Spacemen. The blueliner is playing in his second Premier season and first with the Spacemen. He has 36 career points across 64 games played.

 

Goaltender: Mason Cottreau, Decatur Blaze 

Cottreau (‘05/Airdrie, Alberta) made 44 saves on 47 shots on Jan. 4, garnering a .936 save percentage. He is 5-10-0-0 in his second Premier season and first with Decatur Blaze, and has a .901 career save percentage.

 

Great Lakes Division

Forward: Aidan Besedic, Toledo Cherokee 

Besedic (‘04/Belleair, Fla.) continued a six-game points streak that he began on Dec. 20, scoring two goals and five assists in his first four games of 2025. In his first Premier season, the Toledo Cherokee forward has 37 points to his name, with 29 games played so far this season.

 

Defense: Jack Rivera, Metro Jets 

Rivera (‘04/Macomb, Mich.) scored points in all four games he played last week, helping the Metro Jets begin 2025 as number two on the division leaderboard. The blueliner has 112 career games under his belt with 39 points across three seasons. He has 15 points across 30 games so far this season.

 

Goaltender: Caleb Kril, Toledo Cherokee 

Kril (‘04/Dexter, Mich.) went 2-0 in his two games last week, garnering a .940 save percentage and 1.54 goals against average. In his second season with the Toldeo Cherokee, Kril is 12-2-0-0 with five shutout wins. With a 1.47 goals against average, he is the top-performing goaltender in the Premier League so far this season.

 

Week of Jan. 9

Games played Jan. 1-6

Forward: Owen Atkins, Wisconsin Rapids 

Atkins (‘04/Kitchener, Ont.) scored two goals and four assists over four games last week, continuing an eight-game points streak he began on Dec. 6. In his third Premier season, the Wisconsin Rapids forward is quickly approaching his centennial game, with 98 and counting. He has 48 career points (21 goals; 27 assists).

 

Defense: Jake Knieling, Dells Ducks

Knieling (‘05/Arlington Heights, Ill.) added four points to his scorecard to begin 2025. As the blueliner preps to head to the 2025 All-Star Game, he continues to add to his stats, with 66 career games under his belt over two seasons. He has 53 career points, with 25 (five goals; 20 assists) this season.

 

Goaltender: Deaken Shaw, Wisconsin Rapids

Shaw (‘06/West Valley City, Utah) went 1-0 with a 14-save shutout win against the Steele County Blades on Jan. 4. In his first Premier season, this is Shaw’s third shutout win. He has a .935 save percentage and 1.66 goals against average.

Selection Process: Divisional statistical leaders are presented to coaches, who are able to vote on the leaders, or nominate and vote on alternate candidates.
