Kennewick, Wash.- Tri-City Americans forward Brandon Whynott has committed to Bowling Green State University.

The 20-year-old will join the Falcons for the 2025-26 season following the conclusion of his final season of WHL eligibility.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound winger leads the Americans in goals, powerplay goals (four), shorthanded goals (two) and points.

Whynott, from Langley, B.C., was originally selected by the Calgary Hitmen in the second round of the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft before being acquired by the Americans in an offseason trade ahead of the 2023-24 season.

He’s tallied 47 goals and 64 assists for 111 points in 240 career regular-season games over parts of five seasons.

Whynott has played a key role in Tri-City’s early-season success, 10 ten multi-point games and only seven nights where he’s been held off the scoresheet.

He also went on a 13-game point streak from October 12, 2024, to November 14, 2024- a stretch that saw the Americans go on a monster 12-game winning streak.

Tri-City (20-12-2-1) sits fourth in the U.S. Division.

They host the division rival Wenatchee Wild (15-18-3-1) at the Toyota Centre in Kennewick, Wash. on Friday, January 10 at 7:05 p.m. PST.
