NCDC Teams Select 434 Players In Two Phases Of 2025 NCDC Entry Draft

The National Collegiate Development Conference (“NCDC”) held its 2025 NCDC Entry Draft on Thursday, May 15. A total of 434 players were selected in two phases, starting each of them on their journey to a potential career of development and advancement in the United States Premier Hockey League’s top level.

The two phases of the Draft were established for separate birth year groups. Phase I of the 2025 Draft was for players born in the years 2008 and 2009, for teams looking to build for the future or to find a young NCDC-ready player to develop for college hockey opportunities over the long term. Teams drafted towards a Protected List of 50 total players (including non-drafted players), with some selecting more in Phase I than Phase II, and vice versa, depending on their draft strategy and team needs.

A total of 118 players were selected in Phase I of the 2025 Draft, over a total of 17 rounds. Not every team selects players in every round, which is also the case for Phase II.

Phase II of the 2025 Draft was for players born in the years 2005 to 2007 and are for more near-term player procurement goals, as these older players are typically closer to stepping into a full junior career. A total of 316 players were selected over 35 rounds.

Complete Phase II Selections

Last year, 16 players from Phase I (14 rounds) and 23 players from Phase II (four rounds) reached the NCDC in their draft year.
