The QMJHL is proud to announce today the nominees from each of the 18 teams for the 2025-2026 Marcel-Robert Trophy, presented by BMR.
This prestigious honor is awarded annually to the student-athlete of the year—the player who best combines on-ice performance with academic success.
“In the QMJHL, we talk about student-athletes, and the order of those words is important,” noted Commissioner Mario Cecchini. “From ages 16 to 20, you are first and foremost a student, and our teams do everything they can to properly support their players in achieving academic success. The 18 nominees for the Marcel-Robert Trophy have done an outstanding job of balancing school and hockey. They are role models for current and future QMJHL players.”
“As chairman of the selection committee and a former recipient of the Marcel-Robert Trophy, I have great admiration for all student-athletes who excel both on the ice and in the classroom,” added Charles-David Beaudoin, who won the award in 2012-2013. “From the 18 nominees, we will soon announce the three finalists.”
“Teams submitted excellent applications, and selecting the three finalists will once again be very difficult this season,” said QMJHL Director of the Education Program Valérie Monette. “The candidates demonstrated discipline, perseverance, and strong organizational skills in their studies. They were able to rely on outstanding support from teachers, our academic partners, as well as academic advisors, who greatly contributed to their success. I would like to congratulate the 18 candidates who were selected as Student-Athlete of the Year on their respective teams.”
From these 18 candidates, three finalists will be chosen by a selection committee composed of:
- Charles-David Beaudoin: President of the committee, former recipient of the Marcel-Robert Trophy and wind energy project manager at Groupe Bellemare
- Sébastien Fyfe: Executive Director of Alliance Sport-Études
- Denise Ouellet: Former academic advisor for the Acadie-Bathurst Titan and retired teacher at Nepisiguit High School in New Brunswick
- Louis Bélanger: Retired French teacher from the University of New Brunswick
- Martin Lavallée: QMJHL Deputy Commissioner
- Valérie Monette: QMJHL Director of the Education Program
These three finalists will be announced in the coming days, along with the winner. Stay tuned on our social media!
