The Sarnia Sting have announced the final leadership group for the 2026-27 season.
Alessandro Di Iorio: Captain
Jack Van Volsen: Assistant Captain
Cameron Aucoin: Assistant Captain
Cole Emerton: Assistant Captain
Parker Holmes: Assistant Captain
This will be Di Iorio’s second season as a captain, after earning the C last December. He said that despite starting the season as Captain this year, the message remains, “There’s no difference; the message is the same. I’m more mature, which focuses my mentality. It’s time to earn respect back in the league.”
Van Volsen is currently the lone O.A. this season, playing in his fifth year in the OHL. The experience he’s gained across three teams in his time in the league equips him with the tools to be a strong leader. The 20-year-old sees this season as a fresh opportunity: “This year is going to be a different story. We will earn the respect back by playing hard every night and being a tough team to play against”.
Aucoin is a returning leader, having been a prominent presence throughout his first year in Sarnia. “Being back this year and building the momentum with all the new guys, it’s going to be a great season. As long as we keep our sights on playoffs and stay playing hard all year, we will be good”
Emerton was acquired by the Sting in the offseason from the Barrie Colts, has already made a lasting impression on the team, and is eager to be a part of the leadership core. He said, “I want to show the group that I will work as hard as I can, on and off the ice”.
Holmes was another offseason addition to the team, bringing physical presence and fresh NHL camp experience, and has a vision for the type of team the Sting will be this season: “ a hard-nosed team who are hard to play against. Hard-working, and good guys on and off the ice”.
