Gavin Gould got the lone goal but Devin Kero was the story for the Merritt Centennials in a 1-0 road win over the Vernon Vipers.
Kero faced 17 shots in the first period and 35 overall but could not be beaten in earning his second shutout of the season.
Gould’s tally came on the second period on the power play with assists to Dylan Bowen and Payton Schaefer. Kero earned 1st Star with Vipers goalie Michael Stiliadis taking 3rd Star for his 23 saves.
After allowing a two-goal lead after 40 minutes slip away, the Powell River Kings wound up with a 3-2 double-OT win over the Victoria Grizzlies on Drew Dorantes’ goal. Aidan Wright scored in the first and Luke Nogard tallied in the second for the Kings but Myles Fitzgerald and Cole Pickup replied in the third to force overtime.
Will Cook’s goal 1:57 into overtime gave the Langley Rivermen a 3-2 win over the visiting West Kelowna Warriors. After a scoreless first, the Warriors led 2-1 after two on power-play goals by Jordan Masters and Connor Bucsis. Mitch McLain had the first Rivermen goal in the second and tied it in the third, setting the stage for Cook in OT.
A goal each period was enough for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in a 3-2 home win over the Trail Smoke Eaters. Justin Georgeson’s goal with 50 seconds left was the winner. Tyson Witala opened the scoring for Trail in the first but Tryg Strand replied for the ‘Dogs and Scott Clark put the home side ahead in the second. Travis Stephens equaled the ledger again before Georgeson’s winner.
Austin Plevy’s unassisted shorthanded effort midway through the third was the winner for the Chilliwack Chiefs in a 3-2 victory over the visiting Surrey Eagles. Carter Cochrane opened the scoring for Chilliwack in the first and Blake Gober got his first BCHL goal to make it 2-0 in the second. Joseph Drapluk and Brett Mulcahy replied to tie it in the second for Surrey before Plevy’s winner.
A pair of goals in 36 seconds in the third period from Mark Whitely and Landon Smith sealed a 4-2 win for the Salmon Arm SilverBacks over the visiting Penticton Vees. Thomas Plese opened the scoring for the ‘Backs in the first but Cam Amantea replied for the Vees before the intermission. Evan Anderson scored for Salmon Arm in the second and Cody DePourcq had a late tally for the Vees.
Jeremiah Luedtke’s goal with 44 seconds left was the winner for the Prince George Spruce Kings in a 3-2 win over the visiting Cowichan Valley Capitals. Sean Landrey scored the game’s first goal in the first period and Jarrett Brown tied it for the Caps late in the second. Brogan O’Brien of PG and Jesse Neher traded goals 19 seconds apart to level the score until Luedtke’s winning tally.
