Rosen, Rivet in Miners’ 2014/15 lineup

KIRKLAND LAKE – The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners received some good news this past week. Veteran defenceman Dylan Rosen has committed to coming back to the team for the upcoming season. He was one of the cogs on the blueline for Coach Mark Lafleur and Rosen says he has been preparing for the new season since last year’s championship season ended.

“I have really been up to working out in the gym prepping for this year. Last year was awesome and I want to do everything I can to help us achieve the same thing and even more.

I think the championship hang over wore off for me as soon as I hit the gym.

That is a memory I will never forget but I will have plenty of time to savor that memory when my career is over. I have been getting focused on next year and winning another championship.”

Meantime the club announced there will be some district flare on the team this year. Haileybury’s Alexi Rivet has signed with the club.

He was an affiliate with the Miners last season and is very much looking forward to being a full-time member of the squad.

“I am extremely excited to be playing with the Gold Miners this year.

Under the guidance of the excellent team staff, I am confident that I will develop my hockey skills immensely during this season.

From the amount of fans that show up to the games and the community’s support of their team , to the high calibre of hockey that is played, it made the decision to make the jump to junior hockey that much easier. The team is truly a first-class operation.

After having the opportunity to AP with the Gold Miners last year and to truly experience what it is to be a Gold Miner, there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to play here.

Playing close to home is an added bonus as friends and family will be able to make it to most games.

It also means living in a town very similar to my home town – full of hockey history.

I believe that playing a couple of games with the gold miners last season will be beneficial to me as I know what to expect in the speed of the game at this level and also how much time and space I have out on the ice. I am also pumped to be back on the ice with some familiar faces from last season and to be playing with a former summer hockey teammate, Tyler Romain.”

More announcements from the club in regards to player signings are expected shortly.
