Hey kids, for those of you that didn’t know the worst kept secret in hockey, the Central Hockey League is no longer. Decades of minor pro hockey primarily in the South Western United States is now history.
All seven remaining members were approved to join the ECHL yesterday in a special meeting of the board of governors.
The CHL used to be a decent league, but ended up being the poster child for mismanagement, and really killed itself off by over expansion and a bad business model.
The question now is, how will these seven teams compete with the ECHL teams? With different roster rules, there will be more veteran players hitting the unemployment line this week, or heading down to Single A to keep living the dream.
But hey, little by little were making progress here. The ECHL will take there time and slowly weed out the bad operators, and that will lead to more vacant arenas for junior hockey.
Speaking of vacant arenas…….
How about we kill off some of those false attendance numbers some NAHL teams have been reporting. Yeah, your not fooling anyone there boys. All it takes is a look at the video and you can see you don’t have anywhere near the numbers you’re reporting.
Got some information yesterday boys and girls, it looks like some parents are wising up a little. Hearing some players are being pulled from these low numbered Tier III teams based on safety reasons, and they aren’t providing what they promised.
Really? Some teams aren’t doing the right things? They aren’t providing decent meals on the road? They are cramming a bunch of kids into little apartments? Say it aint so!
Looks like we may have some more special reports kids if parents keep pulling their heads out of their butts!
